Harvest Home Farmers Market’s 4th Annual Savor the Season Uptown Recap

May 19, Harvest Home held its fourth annual Savor the Season-Uptown! at the Museum of the City of New York. This charity evening highlighted Harvest Home’s ongoing mission to provide low-income families with fresh, local produce and education on how to eat healthier and be physically active and fill your body with nutrients, through opposition to junk food, a way of life.

This event is described as being “Designed as a ‘walking tour’ of some of the finest restaurants above 96th Street, guests will be able to sample food, beverages and desserts from some of Uptown’s most notable chefs, during one night, all under the same roof!” Each of the food partners prepared dishes combining gourmet and healthy ingredients for an excellent evening of tastings.

It was a wonderful evening and the food, provided by partners including Serafina and chai wali, was delicious. Tasty highlights include an assortment of Levain Bakery’s famous cookies, Make My Cake Apple Bread Pudding, Lloyd’s Carrot Cake, The Handpulled Noodle Spicy Lamb Noodles and Community foods and juices ravioli stuffed with exceptional truffled peas.

The winners of the evenings, who have dedicated their lives promoting healthy living within their communities included NY Jets commentator and retired NFL safety Erik Coleman who received the New York Sports Legend Award, as well as Barbara Brenner of Mt. Sinai Hospital who received the Lifetime Achievement Awards.

The silent auction was an incredible success as all items were sold, including Beats by Dre. donations, autographed NFL gear and a trip to the Long Island Wine Tour for Two.
