Mission
The Jewish Meditation Center (JMC) is a grassroots organization that supports Jewish meditation, learning, spiritual practice and community building through weekly programming, holiday workshops, guest teachers, social events, and a vibrant online presence. As the first Jewish meditation community created and run by young Jews, the JMC is a groundbreaking organization that fosters a thriving community of meditators and spiritual leaders, transforming the world through the cultivation of awareness, compassion, and Jewish wisdom. The JMC is building a replicable model of a neighborhood-based and community-led Jewish meditation center based on the belief that true and sustainable Tikkun Olam happens from the inside out.

The JMC was founded in response to an articulated need among young Jews for spiritual community informed by our generation's desire for social change, ground-up governance, open-source resource sharing, and meaningful Jewish connection. We created the organization with the intention of fostering a groundbreaking, progressive, and innovative space for people to experience the transformative qualities of Jewish meditation, not just on an individual level, but collectively, in community. We are building our own capacity to
respond to suffering in our lives and in the world, embracing a larger vision of Jewish spirituality that is inclusive, rooted, and engaging.
Since starting in August 2009, the JMC has become a home for hundreds of people looking for a Jewish contemplative place to practice and community to
practice with. By developing leadership within and beyond the JMC, we are poised to seed the field with young, dynamic, and progressive Jewish
meditation leaders- this is incredibly exciting and supports a generational shift in leadership, spirituality. We are cultivating a deeply Jewish
contemplative community in which to practice, learn, and grow.
