APPLYING FOR RESIDENCY
The Bikkurim application process involves several steps, including written proposals and personal interviews. Bikkurim accepts pre-applications on an ongoing basis. The official application cycle runs from Dec. 8 - April 12.

Our next application cycle is for residency to begin Summer 2011. Pre-applications are due by February 1, 2011.

Eligibility
Applicant organizations must:
  1. Be early-stage, New York City headquarted, Jewish organizations.

  2. Be a not-for-profit organization (or aiming to either become one or become a part of one).

  3. Determine and demonstrate the feasibility of the project and that there is a need for it in the Jewish community.

  4. Have an informal or formal advisory group.

  5. Have volunteers or staff members who are able to devote time to the project.


Criteria for Residency
On the content level, the project must be innovative, bring added value to the Jewish landscape, and bring direct benefit to the Jewish community.

On a leadership level, the key activists must have an entrepreneurial spirit, pro-active leadership, and an eagerness to participate in the Bikkurim community.

On a readiness level, the organization must be ripe for accelerated growth, have realistic goals and a feasible course of action, be open to advice and critique, and demonstrate a commitment to organization-building.

Application Process
Social entrepreneurs and/or organization founders contact Bikkurim to describe their project and what they hope to gain from residency in the incubator (optional step).

Social entrepreneurs and/or organization founders download and submit a pre-application form. Pre-applications are due February 1, 2011.

Groups that meet the eligibility criteria outlined above are invited to a pre-screening interview with Bikkurim staff.

Promising candidates are invited to submit a written full application.

Full applications are reviewed by a group of readers. Finalists are selected.

Finalists are interviewed by the Selection Committee. Finalist interviews will be on June 17, 2011.
